  A) Promotion is a marketing tool that involves publicity, advertising, sales promotion, and direct marketing. It is the element of the marketing mix used to:

Inform consumers about products or services, their prices, and how to obtain them;

Persuade consumers to purchase products or services;

Remind consumers about the benefits of transacting business with a store or company.

Q) When is the entry deadline?
  A) All entries must be received at PMA headquarters in Jackson, Michigan, USA by 12:00 p.m. EST January 30, 2009, no exceptions. Send international entries by post or international courier.

Q) Will my entries be returned?
  A) All entries become the property of PMA. We do not return entries; so please do not send your only copy. You should check with the production company, newspaper, magazine, etc. to obtain a copy to submit.

Q) What does unmounted mean?
  A) Send the original magazine ad, newspaper tear sheet, etc. Do not send photocopies or mount the items on a display board of any kind.

Q) I have a poster bigger than 18” x 24”. Can I send it in a mailing tube?
  A) A mailing tube is acceptable to send entries.

Q) How large may an entry be?
  A) Try to keep the size of an entry under 4’ x 4’. Anything larger is too difficult to mail. Please take a photo of large items, such as billboards, car wraps, etc.

Q) Do you accept print materials on disk?
  A) Please send the actual printed piece. Radio/TV presentations and other audio/visual material should be placed on audiocassette, videocassette, DVD, or CD.

Q) What is meant by a campaign and how many entries are allowed?
  A) A campaign entry consists of three or more promotional pieces communicating one theme. You may submit a minimum of three (3) and up to a maximum of seven (7) promotion samples for each campaign. You may enter up to two campaigns.

Q) How do I know which revenue division to place my entry?
  A) The revenue division is determined by the previous year’s sales.

Q) How are entries from businesses outside the United States handled?
  A) Send international entries by post or international courier. We suggest allowing two weeks for international entries to arrive. Any entry submitted in a language other than English must be accompanied by the translation for each segment of the print and/or broadcast copy. To facilitate judging, please place a removable translation in the appropriate location on a print entry.
